A couple things about this:
- Our roster is exactly 50% foreign, 50% American.
- It appears Steve Zakuani’s FIFA nationality has been changed from the Democratic Republic of Congo to England.
Hmmm.
MLS rules dictate that clubs can only have eight international player roster spots. However, this number IS a tradeable aspect, so the number of international players can vary greatly among all teams. This is in an effort to encourage homegrown players to play for the MLS instead of taking their chances internationally and to discourage clubs from ‘outsourcing’ talent when our nation has it in abundance.
Many of the Sounders have their green cards so they don’t count against that number. For example, Zakuani, Montero, Alonso, Hurtado and if I remember correctly, Gonzalez, have all received their green cards and thus don’t count (there could be a couple more, this is from memory). This also helps in US Open Cup play, which also limits the number of international players you are allowed to field.
Reblogged from nacho-delanocheI think the important lesson learned tonight is that Mauro Rosales is a beast and he can’t stop, won’t stop.

Look, I track the Sounders tag, so if anyone says any shit about the second half performance without justifying it with any real thought or clarification, I will fight you.
